In early summer the girls were looking through my parenting magazines while we were waiting for Dad to skydive and Ellie stopped on the SmileTrain ad (a page I turn as quickly as I can because it breaks my heart to look at it), she started asking questions and then asked why "we" don't help a child. So we started collecting loose change from our wallets, piggy banks and family. Every "lucky" penny we found in parking lots and on the street we saved. Our goal was to cover a full surgery by the end of summer and we are happy to say we reached our goal. There are millions of children in developing countries that are in desperate need of cleft lip and palate surgery. The minimum cost in the US is $5,000 but SmileTrain cost is just $250. Please check this charity's website out.
